Bakersfield, United States | Posted on 09/22/2026 The A-C Electric Company InternshipExperience Program gives students a hands-on opportunity to learn howaccounting and finance support both construction projects and Companyoperations. During this 10-week internship, you’ll work alongsideaccounting, finance, and project professionals while gaining practicalexposure to accounts payable and receivable, payroll, projectfinancials, month-end activities, and financial reporting. You’llapply accounting and financial concepts to real business processeswhile learning how accurate financial information helps project teamsand Company leaders understand costs and performance. What You’ll Do As an Accounting & Finance Intern, yourkey responsibilities will be: Supporting accounts payable and receivable by assistingwith transaction processing, account coding, vendor statements,and the resolution of discrepancies. Assisting with payroll activities by supporting payrollprocessing for field and office employees, including certifiedpayroll associated with government contracts. Supporting project financial planning and tracking byhelping prepare project budgets, forecasts, cost-tracking reports,and other financial information used by project teams. Participating in month-end accounting activities byassisting with journal entries, account reconciliations, and otherclose-related work. Preparing financial and operational information by helpingdevelop reports for project teams and Company leaders and usingsystems such as Spectrum and Procore to support accounting andproject processes. During the 10-week program, you’ll also haveopportunities to: Complete a continuous-improvement project focused on a financial process or reporting opportunity and present yourfindings to senior leadership at the end of the internship. Participate in Book Club assignments designed to strengthenleadership and communication skills. Learn from experienced professionals through mentorship andday-to-day collaboration with accounting, finance, and project teams. Build your professional network through interaction withleaders and professionals across accounting, operations, andproject management. Explore accounting and finance career paths while gainingexposure to corporate and project accounting, financial analysis,payroll, and construction finance. What You Bring Current enrollment at a college or university with anexpected graduation date on or before August 2029. A GPA of at least 3.0 in upper-division coursework for yourmajor or 2.75 overall. Availability to work full-time , 40 hours per week, for theentire 10-week Summer 2027 internship. Ability to relocate to Bakersfield, CA , for the duration ofthe internship. What Will Help You Stand Out Coursework in Accounting, Finance, Economics, BusinessAdministration with an accounting or finance concentration,or another quantitatively focused business program. Strong quantitative and analytical skills demonstratedthrough coursework, projects, research, internships, or otherapplied learning opportunities. Strong organizational and teamwork skills demonstratedthrough leadership positions, team activities, or student or civic organizations. Strong communication skills , attention to detail,enthusiasm for learning, and an interest in accounting, finance,or the construction industry. Pay Range: $19.00–$24.00 per hour* *This range represents the pay A-C Electric Company reasonablyexpects to offer for this position. Actual pay may vary based onjob-related factors, including relevant experience, skills,education, certifications, and work location. Location: Bakersfield, CA Work Arrangement: On-site Employment Type: Seasonal The general work environment involves sittingfor extended periods, standing, walking, typing, and occasionallifting of up to 50 lbs. Work is conducted primarily indoors, andnoise levels are typically low to medium.
