Business Development Manager – Technical Sales (Materials Science)

Compensation: $120,000 – $140,000 base + commission

Job Type: Direct Hire, Remote but will travel to multiple locations

Travel: Up to 50% (domestic & international)

Work Location: Norton, MA 02766 (Do not need to be located in MA)

Reports To: Senior Business Development Manager

Must come from the Aerospace, Defense, or Military background

Position Overview

This company is seeking an experienced technical sales professional to join our team as a Business Development Manager . This role is responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic customer relationships, and expanding CPS’ presence within the materials science market.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with proven sales success, enabling them to effectively position CPS’ products and capabilities across a range of high-tech industries. This role requires a highly technical individual who can independently identify and solve customer material challenges, rather than selling complete systems or assemblies.

Core Responsibilities

  • Represent CPS Technologies to current and prospective customers as a trusted technical and commercial partner
  • Execute growth strategies by developing, managing, and expanding customer relationships
  • Promote CPS’ products and capabilities with a deep understanding of technical applications and market positioning

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Achieve individual sales targets and strategic account objectives
  • Proactively identify, prospect, and develop new business opportunities
  • Manage key accounts and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product development, operations, and quality teams to address customer needs
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations (including trade shows, webinars, and on-site customer visits)
  • Generate quotes, manage sales pipelines, and lead negotiations to close business
  • Track opportunities and maintain accurate forecasts using CRM tools
  • Contribute to quarterly forecasts, annual plans, and long-term strategic planning
  • Ensure timely communication and coordination across internal teams to support customer deliverables
  • Support team coverage and customer needs during absences or travel
  • Maintain compliance with ISO standards and internal procedures
  • Adhere to all applicable safety protocols
  • Perform additional duties as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Materials Science (required)
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in technical sales or business development within relevant industries
  • Demonstrated success in customer-facing roles and revenue generation

Preferred Experience:

  • Selling components or solutions into one or more of the following markets:
  • Aerospace & Defense
  • Military

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $120,000 – $140,000 + commission
