We are seeking our next Generator Tech to work out of our Morris, IL location. The Generator Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical generators and related equipment. This role ensures all generator systems function efficiently and safely, meeting industry standards and regulations. A Day in the life... Install, inspect, and maintain generators and associated electrical systems in various commercial, industrial, and residential settings. Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues in the generator, including wiring, controls, and circuit components. To ensure optimal generator performance, perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and battery checks. Test and calibrate generator systems to meet safety and performance standards. Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams to diagnose and resolve issues with generator systems. Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and contractors on generator-related projects. Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work, documenting all service activities and parts used. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. Respond to emergency call‑outs for generator breakdowns or malfunctions, providing timely and effective solutions. Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to generator systems. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent is required; additional technical training or certification in electrical engineering, electronics, or a related field is preferred. At least one year previous experience as a small engine mechanic or generator technician is preferred. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuitry, and safety protocols. Proficiency in using tools and equipment commonly used in generator maintenance and repair. Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics is a plus. Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Valid driver's license Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the Employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and use both hands simultaneously. The Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds of weight. Specific vision abilities this job requires include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
