Home Surplus is a 60+ year-old warehouse superstore specializing in cabinets, countertops, doors, and more. We serve both professional contractors and homeowners looking for quality kitchens at competitive prices - without long lead times.

We're hiring a Kitchen Designer who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and enjoys working with both contractors and homeowners. This is not a boutique showroom with long waits for special orders. This is a high-volume, middle-market environment where decisive designers close business daily.

What You'll Do

Use 2020 Design software to create accurate, sellable kitchen layouts
Work with contractors, flippers, installers, and homeowners
Manage a mix of ticket sizes (from $1,500 to $40,000+)
Provide accurate quotes and manage orders
Follow up consistently and close business
Build repeat relationships with pro customers
Deliver a consultative but efficient design experience

What We're Looking For

Experience with 2020 Design (or similar software)
Comfort working with contractors and retail homeowners
Strong organization and attention to detail
Ability to move efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Working knowledge of cabinetry and basic residential construction
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
Willingness to work retail hours, including some Saturdays

Compensation

This is a stable hourly role with strong performance upside. Hourly pay, plus monthly individual and store performance bonuses and an additional annual performance incentive. Overtime is available.

New designers typically earn $55,000 - $68,000 range. Designers performing at expected levels earn more... and top performers earn $80,000 and up.
