Patient Transporter

Muscogee Staffing Solutions, LLC is seeking a dedicated Patient Transporter to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality personalized patient support in various medical settings, demonstrating compassion and professionalism.

Job Summary

Patient Transporters are responsible for safely and efficiently transporting patients between departments within the healthcare facility. This role plays a key part in supporting patient flow, timely care and a positive patient experience.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a hospital and ambulatory health care setting and outdoor setting. There is common exposure to infectious communicable disease, potentially hazardous chemicals, and biohazardous materials. Incumbent must be aware of all risks involved and be willing to take precautions as required and requested. Special attire may be required as protection against infection and radiation.

Physical Demands

Work requires long periods of standing and walking in the hospital and clinic. Must be physically able to step up and down steps Working with patients requires recurring pushing, pulling, bending, lifting, stooping, stretching, and positioning patients. Ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds is needed. Incumbents must be able to cope with constant changes in a stress-laden environment.

Essential Functions

• Transporting patients between departments (e.g. registration, imaging, surgery, lab, inpatient units, clinics) possibly using wheelchairs within a healthcare facility in a safe and professional manner.
• Ensure patient safety, comfort, and privacy during transport.
• Verify patient identity and destination prior to transport.
• Assist patients on and off transport equipment following safety guidelines.
• Communicate clearly and courteously with patients, families and staff.
• Transport medical equipment, supplies, documents, as needed.
• Respond promptly to transport requests and prioritize based on urgency.
• Maintain cleanliness of transport equipment and follow infection control standards.
• Report any patient concerns, safety issues, or equipment problems to appropriate staff.
• Follow all policies and procedures, HIPAA regulations, and safety procedures.
• Maintain a professional image and attitude regarding patients, visitors and staff.
• Ability to remain calm during emergency behavioral situations.
• Performs other duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

• Skills in organizing maintaining accurate records and documentation.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with patients, clinic/hospital staff, and the general public.
• Ability to utilize a personal computer and its applications in a Windows environment.
• Ability to maintain a confident, professional demeanor.

Minimum Requirements

• Education High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Experience No experience required. One year of experience working in a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Licenses & Certification Valid Oklahoma Driver's License, BLS certification required within 60 days of hire.
