Role Description The Transcriptionist internship is a remote role focused on accurately converting audio and video recordings into written documents for program, training, and research purposes. Day-to-day tasks include listening to recordings, transcribing spoken content verbatim or in summarized form, and formatting transcripts according to BBP guidelines. The intern will review and revise transcripts for clarity, grammar, and consistency, and may help organize files, maintain documentation, and support basic data entry related to transcripts. Collaboration with program staff to clarify terminology, cultural references, and context is expected, while maintaining confidentiality and respect for sensitive content. This is an internship role designed to offer practical experience in supporting humanitarian and mental health initiatives.
Qualifications

Strong transcription abilities, including excellent listening skills, fast and accurate typing, and attention to detail.
Proficiency in written English, with solid grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills, and the ability to edit for clarity.
Comfort working with sensitive topics related to trauma, mental health, and humanitarian work, with a commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards.
Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage time effectively, and meet agreed deadlines.
Basic familiarity with productivity and transcription tools (e.g., word processors, audio players, or transcription software).
Interest in humanitarian work, refugee issues, mental health, or community development; prior exposure to these areas is an asset.
Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity; experience working with diverse communities or international organizations is beneficial.
Relevant academic background or coursework in fields such as social sciences, public health, psychology, international relations, or related disciplines is preferred but not required.
