About the Role:

  • Develop and optimize transportation routes to ensure timely and cost-effective product delivery.
  • Collaborate with transportation carriers, negotiate rates, and manage relationships to ensure reliable and cost-efficient services.
  • Coordinate the logistics of product transportation, including scheduling, dispatching, and tracking shipments.
  • Oversee the management of the company's transportation fleet, ensuring proper maintenance, compliance, and utilization.
  • Implement cost-effective measures in transportation operations, optimizing fuel efficiency and minimizing expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
  • Work closely with warehouse and production teams to coordinate transportation based on inventory levels and production schedules.
  • Communicate with customers to provide accurate delivery information, address inquiries, and resolve transportation-related issues.
  • Address transportation-related challenges such as delays, damages, or route issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to transportation activities, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, and customs paperwork.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement in transportation operations to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols in transportation operations to create a safe working environment for drivers and other personnel.
  • Generate and analyze transportation reports, providing insights into delivery performance, costs, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, sales, and logistics, to ensure seamless coordination of transportation activities.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred
  • 2-4 years of experience in a fast paced multi-vehicle tractor/trailer environment
  • Will possess excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • The ability to work well under pressure,
  • Have experience in shipping and truck loading and have strong data entry and computer skills.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations is also required..
