Under general supervision of the Assistant Chief Prosecutor, performs full-range of in-depth investigations, requiring a comprehensive knowledge of law enforcement tasks associated with investigation of criminal activity, and aid in the prosecution of cases in court. Position requires a high degree of independent judgment and a high degree of initiative and resourcefulness. This job class is treated as FLSA exempt.

To qualify, a person must be a high school graduate or equivalent, and must have an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field, and must have five (5) years specialized criminal investigations experience in law enforcement; a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Criminal Justice, or closely related field is preferred. Peace Officer Certification Requirement: The Criminal Investigator must be a sworn peace officer certified by the Arizona Peace Office and Training Board ("AZPOST") at the time of hire and must maintain AZPOST certification in good standing throughout employment. Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that would allow the candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position, will be considered. An enrolled Community Member who closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill.
