About the Opportunity GIPHY’s Trust & Safety Director oversees the Support and Moderation Teams. The role shapes overall strategy for both departments, identifies partnerships and resources to scale processes, and advocates for trust & safety initiatives to improve brand safety, mitigate risk and increase customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Own and define the strategic vision for the Trust & Safety department, develop roadmaps, set goals and ensure alignment with company objectives. Manage budgeting, resource allocation and financial planning for the department while collaborating with other leaders across the organization. Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing contractor team on content moderation, setting clear expectations and providing ongoing coaching and career development. Oversee training programs, maintain QA of moderator decisions, and foster a collaborative, inclusive, performance‑driven culture. Continuously evaluate and improve moderation workflows, processes and tools to enhance efficiency and scale services for increasing volume and complexity of content. Collaborate with engineering, legal and product teams to propose, implement and maintain features that mitigate risks associated with user‑generated content. Research and manage external vendors to improve moderation products, propose new product improvements and manage project scope and requirements. Oversee creation, maintenance and evolution of content policies, including advertising policy, ensuring they are up‑to‑date with industry trends, legal requirements and platform needs. Develop and execute content strategy, curating high‑quality experiences that drive user engagement and satisfaction. Work closely with data teams to build and maintain dashboards tracking key metrics and trends in moderation and policy enforcement, and use data insights to inform decisions. Stay current on global regulations governing trust and safety (GDPR, TCO, DSA, OSA) and collaborate with legal to address compliance issues. Manage relationships and communications with law enforcement, handle information requests, oversee IP enforcement and respond to legal process. Qualifications 7+ years of hands‑on content moderation, trust and safety experience within a relevant content space. Experience in strategic planning, budgeting and cross‑functional collaboration. Data‑driven decision‑making ability with experience leveraging analytics for improvement. Familiarity with content moderation methods such as hash matching, machine learning, automated action and AI moderation services. Expertise in global regulations (GDPR, TCO, DSA, OSA) and compliance requirements. Solid understanding of content policy creation and enforcement in a digital environment. Experience managing relationships with vendors, law enforcement and legal teams. Leadership and people‑management skills, with ability to inspire and develop a team. Project management skills and experience driving cross‑functional initiatives. Compensation Salary range: $190,000 - $210,000 per year in New York.
