Position Summary Gas Operations Technician – safely perform company field operations, including manual labor and other duties necessary to accomplish the installation, repair, and maintenance of natural gas distribution facilities. Handle customer requests and represent the Company in the community. Pay Range LevelI:$25.10–$37.50per hour LevelII:$28.05–$42.12per hour Senior:$31.56–$47.24per hour Reporting Relationship Gas Operations Supervisor. Location Leachville, Arkansas. Essential Functions Initiate gas service and perform leak investigations and repairs. Use approved electronic locating equipment for underground line locating of gas lines. Read gas meters. Classify and repair above‑ground and underground leaks. Install gas measurement, pressure regulation, and over‑pressure protection. Conduct load surveys. Complete work orders via electronic dispatch equipment (iPad or iPhone). Repair above‑ground facilities with approved methods and materials based on main and service types and sizes. Turn on customer meters, perform dial tests, light pilots, and test appliances/ equipment (including appliances in crawl spaces and attics). Install and program encoder receiver transmitters (ERTs). Perform odorant checks. Investigate carbon monoxide and gas leak complaints and grade leaks. Additional Responsibilities Inspect and protect above‑ground appurtenances from atmospheric corrosion (paint). Complete 3rd‑party damage investigations with proper documentation. Perform other duties as required. What Is Required – All Levels High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company and insurer standards. Travel up to 10% of the time. What Is Required – Level I No experience required; training provided. What Is Required – Level II Minimum of 2 years of experience in natural gas, construction, maintenance, or related fields. What Is Required – Senior Minimum of 4 years of experience in natural gas, construction, maintenance, or related fields. What Is Desired Comprehensive understanding of gas operating safety procedures. Familiarity with Black Hills construction standards and procedures. Experience applying basic mechanical concepts and mechanical aptitude. Effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal skills, and customer orientation. Ability to work independently to serve customers in a related environment. Ability to remain calm and make effective spontaneous decisions during emergency situations affecting safety of the general public, contractors, and other employees. Effective customer interaction and resolution skills. Working knowledge of gas appliances.
