Job Description

We are seeking a strategic, intermediate-level Facilities Process Chemical Engineer to support the execution of high-tech industrial projects. Located in Boise, Idaho, this role focuses on establishing design requirements and generating detailed construction documentation for advanced manufacturing tool installation, tenant improvements, and core facility infrastructure upgrades. Operating within highly complex, densely packed industrial environments, the successful candidate will oversee the design of sophisticated wet and dry piping networks, process chemical delivery systems, and specialized industrial utility infrastructure.

Core Responsibilities

  • Engineering Design & Layout: Execute complex design layouts for process mechanical systems, process chemical piping, ultra-pure water, gas distribution, exhaust systems, and specialized wastewater drainage.
  • Tool Integration & Retrofits: Manage the retrofit of existing building systems to accommodate next-generation manufacturing tools; perform engineering calculations, specify component sizing, and select critical equipment.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Direct the creation of Utility Requirement Documents (URDs) by collaborating closely with client equipment owners, facility stakeholders, and tool manufacturers.
  • Multi-Discipline Coordination: Serve as the core chemical process representative within an integrated, multi-discipline design team to ensure seamless project delivery from conceptual design through construction.
  • Construction Administration Support: Provide vital on-site technical support during construction phases, including responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) and reviewing submittal documentation.
  • Field Evaluation: Conduct extensive field walks, site surveys, and structural assessments within active facility environments to verify existing conditions and support factory integration.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 3 years of practical application in chemical/mechanical facilities engineering, with specific expertise in pumps, tank storage, process piping, and hazardous fluid/gas distribution.
  • Project Delivery: Minimum of 3 years of experience navigating structured design project delivery processes.
  • Compliance & Authorization: Must be fully authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements. Successful completion of a comprehensive background check and drug screening is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Semiconductor Industry Acumen: 2+ years of dedicated experience working with complex semiconductor manufacturing tools, cleanroom environments, or tool hook-up installation.
  • Field & Licensing Credentials: 3 years of active field experience, paired with an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or a valid Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Technical Software: Proficient working knowledge of AutoCAD software for design development.

Employment Details

  • Employment Status: Full-Time
  • Work Arrangement: On-Site / Hybrid. Candidates must be local to Boise, ID, or willing to relocate, and must report to the local office or project site at least twice weekly during standard business hours. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to navigate active construction environments. This includes walking long distances, standing for extended periods, climbing ladders, working on catwalks, navigating confined spaces, and lifting or carrying equipment up to 25 lbs.
