Wage: $21 – $25 per hour, depending on experience

ABR Employment Services is partnering with a custom metal fabrication manufacturer in Waunakee, WI to recruit for skilled Fabricator / Welder positions.

Position Overview

The Fabricator / Welder is responsible for forming, cutting, and welding metal components and subassemblies according to blueprint specifications and established quality standards. This role operates a variety of fabrication equipment including press brakes, plasma cutters, torches, saws, grinders, forklifts, and overhead cranes.

The ideal candidate brings strong welding experience, blueprint reading ability, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate MIG welders (.035 wire preferred) and dual shield welding (.045 preferred) to weld components and subassemblies

• Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, layouts, welding symbols, and geometric tolerancing

• Form material using press brake equipment

• Cut and prepare material using plasma cutters, torches, shears, saws, grinders, and track torches

• Inspect finished weldments for conformance to blueprint specifications and quality standards

• Complete required welding and inventory documentation; report discrepancies as needed

• Perform material handling duties using forklifts and overhead cranes

• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas

• Follow all established manufacturing processes, safety procedures, and quality standards

• Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and production processes

• Perform other duties as assigned

QualificationsRequired:

• Minimum 3 years of welding experience preferred

• Experience with MIG welding (.035) and dual shield welding (.045) preferred

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings

• Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide; read tape measure)

• Ability to operate fabrication equipment including welder, plasma cutter, torches, hand tools, forklift, and overhead crane

• Ability to obtain forklift certification and welding certification

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods

• Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching overhead

• Regular lifting up to 25 lbs; occasional lifting up to 100 lbs

• Ability to work in environments with fumes, airborne particles, and loud noise levels

• Must wear required PPE including safety glasses, welding helmet, steel-toed boots, gloves, sleeves, apron, and hearing protection

Work Environment

This position operates in a manufacturing and welding environment with exposure to fumes, moving mechanical parts, and loud noise levels. Safety protocols and required PPE must be strictly followed at all times.
