About This Role The Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) plays a critical role in the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) by performing forensic evidence collection for patients who report sexual assault. This position is ideal for those who are compassionate and skilled in providing patient-centered care while ensuring the integrity of forensic evidence. Highlights Pay: $350/hour Location: Queens, NY Department/Unit: SEXUAL ASSAULT FORENSICS TEAM Schedule: Part-Time, Rotating What You'll Do Respond to SAFE-designated NYC H+H health care settings within 60 minutes when on call. Obtain informed consent and conduct suspect evidence collection, including forensic photography. Ensure accurate collection and preservation of forensic evidence using appropriate kits. Document findings and complete necessary forms, including Sexual Assault Assessment forms. Communicate relevant examination findings to the primary treatment team. Utilize crisis intervention and supportive techniques with sexual assault survivors. Educate patients and families about evidence collection and recommended treatments. Consult with appropriate personnel for medical treatment and engage in hand-off processes. Communicate with law enforcement and testify as a witness when required. Escalate clinical and operational issues to the Borough Coordinator. Requirements Experience: One (1) year of full-time clinical post-licensure experience required. Licenses & Certifications: Valid New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA), or Physician. Completion of a Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) Training Program approved by NYSDOH. NYSDOH SAFE certification must be obtained within twelve (12) months of appointment. Valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 30 days of appointment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
